Smith Falls

This was painted on location at Smith Falls State Park along the Niobrara River east of Valentine, Nebraska. This is the west side of the falls - I was tempted to paint the entire falls but with the light moving so quickly, I decided to focus on a smaller portion of it. I found this composition and the light on this part of the falls very interesting. I loved the colors in the cliff and movement of the water. This painting is part of my "Yes This is Nebraska" series. This series was exhibited in the late fall 2021 exhibitions in David City and Omaha, Nebraska.
