Painted during the 2017 Door County (Wisconsin) Plein Air Festival. This was painted on July 25th which was the 5th anniversary of my father's passing. I was struggling with this sunset as the clouds had moved in and obliterated the scene I was trying to capture. Suddenly the gray layer cleared and revealed this beautiful sight. I hurried and scraped off the painting and about 20 minutes later, this was the result. Truly a gift...so happy this piece found a good home.
